Overview
The LiGo Chrome Extension authentication process requires a specific sequence of steps to ensure proper functionality. This guide addresses the most common issue users face: the extension not working after signing in or getting signed out.
This affects both:
- New users setting up the extension for the first time
- Existing users who got signed out and need to re-authenticate
Why This Process Is Required
Sometimes your browser's specific configuration settings can cause the extension sidebar opening to be interrupted or delayed. Rather than troubleshooting individual browser settings (which can be time-consuming), following this step-by-step guideline ensures the extension works smoothly regardless of your browser's configuration.
This process works across all supported browsers (Chrome and Edge) and provides the most reliable setup experience.
Checking Your Login Status
Before starting the authentication process, you should first check if you're already logged in:
Step 1: Check Authentication Status
-
Navigate to LinkedIn in your browser
-
Click the LiGo extension icon in your browser toolbar to open the sidebar
- Look at the bottom right corner of the extension sidebar
- Check if your profile picture/avatar is displayed there
If you see your avatar: You're already logged in! You can proceed directly to generating comments.
If the circular icon appears blank or shows no profile picture: You need to authenticate following the steps below.
Step 2: Logout and Re-authenticate (For Existing Users)
Important: Keep the sidebar open during this entire process
If you're an existing user who got signed out:
- Hover over the blank circular icon in the bottom right corner of the sidebar
- A logout option will appear
- Click the logout button - this will automatically redirect you to the authentication page
-
Complete your login on the authentication page that opens
-
Proceed to Step 4 in the main authentication process below
Complete Authentication Setup Process
Step 1: Open Extension Sidebar
- Navigate to LinkedIn in your browser
- Locate the LiGo extension icon in your browser toolbar (usually in the top-right area)
- Click the LiGo icon to open the extension sidebar
Important: Keep this sidebar open for the entire authentication process
Step 2: Access Authentication Page
For new users or if the logout method above didn't work:
- With the sidebar open, navigate to ligo.ertiqah.com/auth in a new tab
- Or access the authentication page through your usual method
Critical: Keep the extension sidebar open during this step
Step 3: Complete Authentication
- On the LiGo authentication page, complete your login process:
- Enter your email and password, OR
- Use your preferred OAuth method (Google, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Keep the extension sidebar open during the entire login process
- Wait for successful authentication confirmation
- Your profile picture should now appear in the bottom right corner of the sidebar
Step 4: Return to LinkedIn
- After successful login, navigate back to LinkedIn
- You should still have the extension sidebar open
- Now close the extension sidebar completely
- This step is crucial for proper initialization
Step 5: Refresh LinkedIn
- Refresh your LinkedIn feed page using:
- Windows/Linux: F5 or Ctrl+R
- Mac: Cmd+R
- Or click the browser refresh button
- Wait for the page to fully reload
Step 6: Generate First Comment
- After the page refreshes, reopen the extension sidebar by clicking the LiGo icon
- Find any LinkedIn post and generate your first comment using the sidebar
- This initial comment generation completes the authentication setup
Step 7: Normal Usage
After completing steps 1-6, your extension is fully set up! From this point forward:
- Right-click on any LinkedIn post to generate comments
- The extension will automatically open when you right-click
- No need to manually open the sidebar for regular usage
- The extension will remember your authentication
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Issue #1: Extension Still Not Working After Following Steps
If the extension isn't working after following the complete process:
- Clear browser cache and cookies for LinkedIn and LiGo
- Disable and re-enable the LiGo extension in your browser
- Restart your browser completely
- Repeat the authentication process from Step 1
Issue #2: Sidebar Won't Open
If you can't open the extension sidebar:
- Check that the LiGo extension is installed and enabled
- Look for the LiGo icon in your browser toolbar
-
If you don't see it, check your browser's extensions menu
-
Pin the extension to your toolbar for easier access
Issue #3: Profile Picture Not Showing After Login
If you completed authentication but don't see your profile picture in the sidebar:
- Close and reopen the extension sidebar
- Refresh the LinkedIn page and try again
- Check if you're logged in by visiting ligo.ertiqah.com directly
- If still not working, repeat the authentication process
Issue #4: Extension Works Intermittently
If the extension sometimes works and sometimes doesn't:
- This usually indicates incomplete authentication setup
- Repeat the complete process from Step 1
- Ensure you don't skip the "close sidebar → refresh → reopen" sequence
- Generate 2-3 test comments to fully initialize the system
